Ager To Play In Spain

August 21st, 2009 | by Ryan Jones |

Former Nets guard Maurice Ager has signed to play next season in Spain.

The 25-year-old guard Maurice Ager has reached agreement with the Spanish club Sevilla Cajasol. The 6-5, 202-pound athlete, who spent last four seasons playing in NBA, also got offer from Brandon Jennings’ former Italian team Rome Lottomatica.

Ager averaged 1.7 points and 0.5 rebounds in just 4.9 minutes per game during last season in New Jersey.

Hard to get upset over losing someone that averaged less than 2 points per game.  But with Vince Carter’s minutes up for grabs, it would have been nice for Ager to finally get a chance in New Jersey.  As long as the Nets could have brought Ager back on a one year deal, thus not impacting the 2010 cap space, I would have been all about it.

The kid had a ton of potential coming out of Michigan State and I could definitely see him making his way back to the league after a couple years playing in Europe.
